Each fall the City of Burnsville has a buckthorn pick up program for buckthorn and willow that has been cut down around the lake. Buckthorn is an invasive species and it is quite a task to keep it under control. The city will be picking up the piles of cut buckthorn around the lake on Monday, October 2nd

We will be looking for volunteers to help the weekend preceding pickup. The more help we have, the more buckthorn we will be able to remove. We have a cutting tool and chain saw. If you have a pruning tool or hand saw, that would be helpful. We need to put what we remove in piles cut down to 8-10 ft. We will also be treating the stumps so the invasive plants don’t just grow right back.
